JiraI use JMWE (Jira Misc Workflow Extensions) - will those be migrated over? The main difference between JMWE for Jira Data Center/Server and JMWE for Jira Cloud extensions is that Data Center uses Groovy scripting whereas Cloud uses a combination of Nunjucks and Jira expressions. Jira Boards

What are Boards with no location ?

In Data Centre, boards can be shared and have no concept of a location - i.e. 6 Projects, all sharing the same board.

In Cloud, a board can only have one location.

All Boards Migrate but the location associated with the board will be either;

The one project in the Filter that drives the board data

OR

If the board pulls data from more than one project then the board owner (user) in DC or The Filter owner user will become the 'Boards Location' in the cloud.

If you share a board in DC and in the cloud the board is not in your project, you should:

  • Find the board from using the Search menu and selecting 'Boards' and searching for your board:

Once found, If the board already has a project location that is not your project, Copy the board, rename the board and set the location to your project.

JiraI get an error when trying to access my Jira board.  How do I fix this?

After a migration, some boards may become difficult to find or seem "lost" because their locations can be unpredictable. These boards are known as "orphaned" Jira boards.

However, this doesn’t mean the data is missing. It simply means the board’s location has changed, and the correct location hasn’t been assigned yet. When attempting to access these boards, you may encounter errors like the one shown below.

Cross Project Boards

Multi project boards will migrate but will not be visible from within the projects view.  The following fix needs to be applied to get the board into the project view :

  1. Associate the board a 'Location' (This can be a project used in the filter)
  2. The Board can be copied and set a location for other projects the board need to be seen on

Detailed documentation on how to apply these steps can be found here: How to fix Cross-Project Boards

How to fix the board issue

  1. Check to see if your board is present on your project
  2. If not present on your project, navigate to the all boards section in Jira
  3. Navigate to the Boards menu (Search → Boards)

     4. Find your Board

     5. Click '...' and select 'Move'

     6. Select the location of the board (select the relevant project to show the board in your project)

7. Click 'Set Location' to confirm (this will make the Board visible in the project selected

Copying a Board to another Project

If you have set the Location of your board but need this board on other Projects also then the board will need to be copied and a location set for the other projects.

  1. Go back to the Board view and this time, select '...' and 'Copy'
  2. Confirm by clicking Copy
  3. Find the board in the search (will have 'Copy' in front of the name) and Rename the Board if needed (select '...' and 'Edit Settings' to rename)
  4. Update the location to the next project (3 Dots and click MOVE - Same steps as above in this article )
  5. All Changes will automatically save (this will make the Board visible in the project selected)
  6. Repeat for any additional projects the Board is used in
