Statistical commentaries should give the user a brief understanding of the main data points from the statistics publication.
They should be:
- brief and concise
- separated into a few key sections
- a summary of key findings - not duplicating the main publication
Statistical commentaries should be separated into these main sections:
| Section | Contents |

| New to this update | - 100 word summary of what has been modified in the commentary
- links to data included further down the page (if needed)
|
| Main findings | - overview of the most pertinent data that has come from the statistical commentary - 6 to 7 bullet points
|
| Summary | - this is the body of the statistical commentary
- illustrated with Figures and charts
- sub-headings can be used to divide up this summary, but they should be written out in bold as normal 'paragraph' text
|
| Background information | - provide context to the statistics publication - why it was commissioned, who was involved, and information on the main issues that the publication addresses
- relevant links to the full statistical publication or partner sites
|
