This is because:
- if the image is the wrong size, it will not display correctly on the page
- we have a commitment to providing users with a consistent experience across GOV.UK web pages
Image size and specifications
All images used in news stories need to be in these dimensions:
- Width - 960 pixels
- Height - 640 pixels
How to check your image is in the correct size (Windows)
Step 1
- find the image that you want to examine on your computer
- right click on the image
Step 2
- click on the 'Details' tab
- check the width and height of the image in the 'Image' sub menu.
- ensure that the image is 960 x 640 pixels
- in the example below, the image dimensions are too large
